 Cynthia A. WebbDr. Webb obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, and her Ph.D. in Immunology from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot working with Profs. Ruth Arnon and Michael Sela, her Ph.D. thesis research being on the drug Copaxone.

Two years postdoctoral experience at the Rockefeller University (New York) working with Nobel Laureate Prof. G. M. Edelman were followed by an appointment as tenure track senior scientist at the Weizmann Institute of Science in the Department of Hormone Research. Dr. Webb has published over thirty original research papers, presented lecture courses and supervised graduate students as well as clinicians undertaking research projects.

During her academic appointment Dr. Webb also served as an expert consultant to the World Health Organization for four years, and took sabbatical leaves at the La-Jolla Cancer Research Foundation and U.C. San Diego.

After ten years at the Weizmann Institute, Dr. Webb switched to a career in the biotechnology industry, where she worked first at Biotechnology General Ltd. and later at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. Later she trained as in-house patent attorney at Pharmos Inc. Dr. Webb is a registered Patent Attorney in Israel since 1994, and is a Patent Agent registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Dr. Webb founded Webb & Associates, Patent Attorneys in 2000 which has expanded into Webb & Co. in 2009. At present, Dr. Webb specializes in patentability evaluations, due diligence for investors, and freedom to operate opinions in view of third party patents.

Ms. Galit KernerMs. Kerner holds a B.A. degree in Social Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Ms. Kerner has vast administrative management experience.

Ms. Kerner joined Webb & Co. in 2004.

Partners

Ms. Hornik obtained her B.Sc. degree in agriculture science from the Hebrew University and obtained her M.Sc. degree in biochemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, working with Prof. Meir Wilchek.

Her thesis research focused on design and screening of peptide libraries in search of TNF binding ligands.

Ms. Hornik’s industrial experience includes four years as a scientist at Interpharm Ltd. (Rehovot) at the Immunochemistry Research and Development Department, four years as a senior scientist and a group leader and project manager at Peptor Ltd. (Rehovot) and four years at Peptor Ltd. as the patent coordinator and in-house patent attorney

Ms. Hornik is a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel, since 2001.

Ms. Hornik joined Webb & Co. in January 2003 as a patent attorney.

Dr. Liora BoginDr. Bogin obtained her B.A. degree in Chemistry from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Dr. Bogin received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Physical Chemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, working with Prof. Hadassa Degani.

Her thesis research focused on the development of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) techniques for tumor analysis.

Dr. Bogin joined Webb & Co. in February 2002 and is a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel.

Dr. Hedva SchicklerDr. Hedva Schickler obtained B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Quality Sciences. Her thesis research was in the field of plant photosynthesis, focusing on characterization of proton transport through the thylakoid membrane.

Dr. Schickler trained as a post-doctoral fellow at Rutgers, State University of New Jersey, USA, in Plant Molecular Biology focusing on the regulation of gene expression in maize, in the laboratory of Dr. J. Messing. She proceeded to a second Post-Doctoral term in the laboratory of Prof. I. Chet, at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, focusing on biological control by fungi and bacteria.

Dr. Schickler held a position of teaching associate at the rank of lecturer, in the Kennedy-Leigh Centre for Horticultural Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Quality Sciences, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She then joined IBR, Israeli Biotechnology Research Ltd., a start-up company developing natural active ingredients for the cosmetic industry and was the company head of R&D for three years.

Dr. Schickler joined Webb & Co. in February 2002 and has been a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel since 2004.

Dr. Iris SchvartzDr. Schvartz obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and her Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, working with Prof. Eli Hazum, her thesis research being on the receptors of gonadotropin-releasing hormone.

Dr. Schvartz did her postdoctoral training at Glaxo Research Institute (North Carolina) working with Prof. Eli Hazum and at the Weizmann Institute of Science in the Department of Immunology working with Prof. Shmuel Shaltiel. Dr. Schvartz was appointed as a Senior Staff Scientist at the Weizmann Institute of Science in the Department of Biological Regulation. Dr. Schvartz published over twenty original research papers and supervised graduate students.

After ten years at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Dr. Schvartz switched to the field of intellectual property. Dr. Schvartz has been a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel since 2004.

Ms. Sharon GanorSharon Ganor obtained her B.Sc. degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Biology from Tel-Aviv University, Tel-Aviv, Israel. She obtained an M.Sc. degree in Life Sciences from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, in the Department of Immunology, under the supervision of Prof. Ofer Lider.

Her thesis research focused on the regulation of immune cell interactions with extracellular matrix during inflammation. Sharon joined Webb & Co. in 2004 and has been a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel since 2006.

Sharon is experienced in patent drafting and prosecution across a wide range of biotechnology and pharmaceutical areas, with her main expertise in immunology-related technologies such as antibodies and vaccines, and in cell biology, molecular biology, diagnostics, gene therapy, peptides and formulations. She also has extensive experience in the preparation of patentability, validity and freedom to operate opinions and analyses, and in patent strategy planning and portfolio management.

Dr. Eran SilvermanDr. Silverman obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in the department of Biological Chemistry, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Israel, while working with Prof. Yossi Orly in the field of Molecular Endocrinology.

Dr. Silverman spent three years of postdoctoral studies as a research associate of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the Dept. of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center; under the supervision of Prof. Jim Maller. After returning to Israel, Dr. Silverman established the molecular lab facility of the Frankel Laboratory Center for Stem Cell Research and Experimental Bone Marrow Transplantation at the Schneider Children’s Hospital, Petach-Tikva, Israel.

Dr. Silverman switched to a career as a patent attorney while training with Eitan-Mehulal law group. Dr. Silverman later joined Webb & Co. as a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel.

Dr. Silverman specializes in patent drafting and prosecution in various fields of life sciences, including medical devices, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, and biomedical industry. In addition, Dr. Silverman specializes in patentability evaluations and freedom to operate opinions in view of third party patents.

Patent Attorneys

Dr. Yael Webb obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She received her M.A., M. Phil. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Columbia University, (New York). Her thesis research focused on the development of novel histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors for the treatment of cancer,and investigation of their mechanism of action. Dr. Webb also trained as a post-doctoral fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York) focusing on the development of small molecule inhibitors of Src family kinases.

Dr. Webb joined Webb & Co. in 2004, following two years as Director of Intellectual Property at ATON Pharma, Inc., a biotech company focusing on the identification and development of HDAC inhibitors for the treatment of cancer. At ATON, Dr. Webb was an integral member of the project team that led to the development of SAHA (Vorinostat, Zolinza), an HDAC inhibitor that is currently being marketed by Merck for the treatment of Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma.

She also has extensive experience in US patent prosecution and opinion writing, acquired during her appointment as a patent agent at Winston & Strawn, LLP, New York. She is a registered Patent Attorney in Israel and is a Patent Agent registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Her practice areas include patent drafting and prosecution, patentability evaluations and freedom to operate opinions in the chemical, biological and pharmaceutical fields.

Ms. Tal BursteinTal Burstein obtained her B.Sc. degree (Cum Laude) in Biotechnology from Tel-Aviv University, Tel-Aviv, Israel.

She obtained her M.Sc. degree (Cum Laude) in Biotechnology from Tel-Aviv University under the supervision of Prof. Raphael Lamed.

Her thesis research focused on cellulose-degrading enzymes from the bacterium Clostridium thermocellum.

Ms. Burstein joined Webb & Co. in 2009 and has been a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel since 2011.

Dr. Nina TravitskyDr. Travitsky received her B.Sc. degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Chemistry from the Tel-Aviv University, Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Dr. Travitsky obtained her M.Sc. (Summa Cum Laude) degree in Chemistry and Material Science and Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the Tel-Aviv University, Tel-Aviv, Israel, under the supervision of Prof. E. Peled. Her thesis research focused on development and characterization of platinum and platinum alloy catalysts for oxygen reduction and hydrogen oxidation in fuel cells.

Prior to joining Webb & Co., Dr. Travitsky served as Head of the electrochemistry division at Enstorage Inc., Israel.

Dr. Travitsky joined Webb & Co. in September 2012 and is a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel.

Dr. Igal FinarovDr. Finarov received his B.Sc.Pharm degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He obtained his M.Sc. in Life Sciences (bioinformatics) and Ph.D. in Structural Biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot. Dr.Finarov’s research was related to elucidation of structural and functional aspects of phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase, a protein participating in translation machinery.

Following his Ph.D. studies, Dr. Finarov stayed in Weizmann Institute of Science as a Senior Intern and was involved in several diverse projects such as computer aided drug design, and development and commercialization of plants, resistant to a particular herbicide. After a short period as a project manager in a biotechnology company developing pharmaceutical formulations, Dr. Finarov completed his patent attorney training and joined Webb & Co. in 2015 as a Registered Patent Attorney.

Dr. Gadi ZiporDr. Zipor obtained his B.Sc. degree in Life Science from the Tel-Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. He then obtained his M.Sc. degree from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology under the supervision of Prof, Gadi Schuster.

His thesis research focused on mRNA Polyadenylation in Prokaryotes, Chloroplast and Mitochondria. Dr. Zipor then obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Weizmann Institute of Science under the supervision of Prof. Jeffrey Gerst. The Ph.D. thesis focused on the Localization of mRNAs encoding Peroxisomal proteins. Dr. Zipor held a four year post-doctoral fellowship at the Agricultural Research Organization – the Volcanic Center, focusing on the catabolism of the anthocyanins in flowers at the Laboratory of Dr. Michal Oren-Shamir. Dr. Zipor joined Webb & Co. in December 2013.

Dr. Shay PotashDr. Potash received his B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from the Tel-Aviv University, Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Dr. Potash obtained his Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry from the Tel-Aviv University (direct course for Ph.D.) under the supervision of Prof. Shlomo Rozen, developing synthetic chemical methods relating to molecular fluorine and organofluorine compounds. His Ph.D. thesis focused on synthetic utilities of HOF•CH3CN and fluoroform for oxygenation and fluorination reactions.

Dr. Potash joined Webb & Co. in February 2015 and is a Registered Patent Attorney in Israel since February 2017.

Attorneys at law

Mr. Maty BarzamAttorney-at-law and Patent Attorney. Holds an L.L.B. degree from Tel Aviv University, Israel. A member of the Israel Bar Association since 1991 and a licensed Patent Attorney in Israel since 2000. Mr. Barzam holds a B.Sc.in Mechanical Engineering from Farleigh-Dickinson University (Teaneck, NJ) and an M.B.A from New York Institute of Technology.

Mr. Barzam has vast experience in intellectual property related litigation, including patent infringement cases, trade mark, copyright and design infringement cases, enforcement, patent opposition proceedings etc. Mr. Barzam also specializes in patent drafting and prosecution.

Ms. Liat Bachar-Segal – Attorney at Law. Holds L.L.B. degree from Tel Aviv University, Israel, and M.B.A degree from The College of Management, Israel. A member of the Israel Bar Association since 2000.

Ms. Bachar-Segal is the head of Webb & Co.’s Trademarks and Designs Department, and specializes in trademark and design registration in Israel and abroad, prosecuting and defending oppositions and revocations in Israel, and abroad. Ms. Bachar-Segal joined Webb & Co. in 2016.

Ms. Tali Gat-FalikMs. Tali Gat-Falik obtained her B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Sciences (Cum Laude) from Tel Aviv University, and her M.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Sciences (Cum Laude) from the the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. She obtained her Ll. B. from Ono Academic College. 

Ms. Gat-Falik has vast technological experience from having worked for over 13 years as a senior programmer and team leader in a number of leading hi tech companies.

Ms. Gat-Falik has started her patent attorney career as a trainee at Soroker-Agmon and continued practicing as a Patent Attorney at that firm for about six years.

She focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications as well as strategic planning for high-tech, medical devices and other companies.

Ms. Gat-Falik also acts as the Intellectual Property Manager of N-trig, a leading developer and supplier of touch screen devices and technologies.

Scientific Advisors

Adi Horowitz-NoyAdi Horowitz-Noy obtained her B.Sc. degree (Cum Laude) in Chemical Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. She obtained an M.Sc. degree (Cum Laude) in Energy Engineering from the Technion, in the faculty of Material Science and Engineering, under the supervision of Prof. Michael S. Silverstein. Her thesis research focused on emulsion-templated porous carbons with hierarchical porosities, based on porous polymers. Adi joined Webb & Co. in 2016.

Dr. Ze'ev AronisDr. Aronis obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva, Israel, Diploma in Computer Sciences from the Open University, Israel, and his MBA (strategy major), M.Sc. and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the Tel-Aviv University, Israel, working with Prof. Shmuel Einav, his thesis research being biomechanical risk factors of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques.

Dr. Aronis served for five years as the VP R&D and the COO of Prana Essentials Inc., a company that developed systems and algorithms for personalization of treatment protocols for healthcare professionals, and was the co-founder of Logi-Diet Ltd, developing machine-based algorithms for the field of nutrition, which was awarded the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Seal of Excellence.

Dr. Wainschtein obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry (Cum Laude) and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry (Summa Cum Laude) degrees from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, under the supervision of Professor Israel Agranat. Her thesis research focused on Chiral Switches as a strategy for the discovery and development of new drugs, analyzing the trends in the development of new chiral drugs (FDA and Worldwide) and case law in various jurisdictions on validities of enantiomer patents.

Dr. Wainschtein obtained her Ph.D. degree from Tel-Aviv University in the field of Carbohydrate Chemistry under the supervision of Professor Micha Fridman. Her thesis research focused on developing new methods of synthesis of novel 2-Deoxy-Pentosepyranoside sugar scaffolds in high anomeric selectivity, using Tin Chemistry. In addition, her research included designing and synthesizing a combinatorial library of unnatural glycoside analogues and studying their SAR as Cardiac Glycoside agents on myocardial cells.

Prior joining Webb&Co. Dr. Wainschtein served for 18 months as an R&D researcher at Haifa Chemicals Ltd., Controlled Release Fertilizer Laboratory. Her research focused on polymers synthesis, coating techniques, aspects of biodegradation and regulatory issues.

Dr. Wainschtein joined Webb&Co. in November 2017.

Ms. Levy has over 20 years of experience as a paralegal.

Ms. Levy serves in the Foreign Filing Department in Webb & Co.

Ms. Soto obtained a B.Ed. and teaching Certificate from the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem.

Ms. Vishninsky obtained her B.Sc. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; The Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

Ms. Vishninsky served as a variety registration and breeder`s rights specialist for six years in Zeraim Gedera Ltd., an agricultural company.

Ms. Vishninsky serves in the Renewal Department and is a part of the Trademark Department team in Webb & Co.

Ms. Vishninsky joined Webb & Co. in 2013.

Ms. Cohen graduated Software Practical Engineering studies at the College of Management Academic Studies in Israel.

Ms. Cohen serves as a paralegal in the Israel Department.

Ms. Rycus obtained her Bachelor`s degree in Design – B.Des. from the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Ramat-Gan.

Ms. Rycus has 24 years of experience as a paralegal.

Ms. Shamir obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Phytopathology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; The Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

Her thesis research focused on the involvement of tyrosine phosphatase 1 in the morphology of sclerotinia sclerotiorum, under the supervision of Prof. Oded Yarden.

Ms. Shamir holds a diploma of Information Science from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Azrieli Sarona Campus, Tel-Aviv.

Ms. Shamir serves in Webb & Co. as an information specialist  and offers several search services. In addition, Ms. Shamir is the head of the Information Disclosure Statement (IDS) Department in Webb & Co.

Ms. Shamir joined Webb & Co. in 2013 .

Ms. Kashpitz obtained a Diploma in Screenwriting and filmmaking from the Ma’aleh school of television, film and the arts, Jerusalem.

Ms. Kashpitz has over 6 years` experience as a patent paralegal.
